Product Overview

This book contains the second violin part and some third violin parts written by Dr. Suzuki to selected pieces from Suzuki Violin School, volumes 1, 2 and 3. When a student starts playing advanced pieces he or she may learn the second part. The beauty of Suzuki students is that they feel special when they can play the second violin part.

Great Book

By Hannah from Littleton, CO on 2/28/2011 10:33:43 PM

This is an excellent book for Suzuki teachers. I play the second violin parts with my students in lessons all the time, starting very early on. This provides a great introduction to ensemble playing and forces students to listen, helping them with skills such as intonation. The second violin parts are harder than the "first violin parts" in the regular Suzuki books because they are lower and include more notes that are "off the tapes." So, I never have students play the second violin parts...I only use this book as a resource for teaching. If you're looking for violin duets where both parts are at a comparable level, there are plenty of other books out there that I would recommend before this one. Nonetheless, I love using this book for teaching purposes. My only complaint is that it doesn't have second violin parts to all of the pieces in the first three Suzuki books--just selected tunes. But the second violin parts that are included are excellent!
