Faber Accelerated Piano Adventures for the Older Beginner Lesson Book 1

By Sharon Parker from Wilmington, DE on 2/15/2011 10:30:06 PM

This book has all the advantages of the regular Piano Adventures books, combining landmark-and-interval and other commonly used approaches to piano study but moving considerably faster. It is very thorough and, especially if it is used with the companion theory book and one or two of the supplementary books, gives the student an excellent foundation. I find it works well with older beginners and adults who are able to move quickly. The material is attractive, varied and well-paced, with folk songs, jazz, arrangements of classical music, an occasional original easy classic and original music by the Fabers. I would like them to include more original material by standard composers such as Kabalevsky, Gurlitt and others who wrote for students in the same style as the more famous composers, but on the whole the music is some of the best coursebook music around and students love it. My experience in teaching this series has been very successful.
