Fender Deluxe P Bass Special 4-String Bass

The Fender Deluxe P Bass Special 4-String Bass has a Jazz neck, a P Bass body, and a P/J combination pickup array with Vintage Noiseless pickups and active electronics. The P body is a little smaller and lighter, the J neck slimmer and faster, and the combined pickups give you just that much more to play with. A gold vinyl pickguard sets the Deluxe P Bass apart visually, and its satin-finish neck feels worn in from the get-go.

Best bargain Fender

Another in Fender's long line of custom quality instruments. While the American Standard series is Fender's top of the line, the Deluxe model arguably is far more bang for the buck. The bass is made in Mexico with the same woods and hardware used in Fender's US products. The Deluxe model has active electronics, plus Precision and Jazz style pickups. While the mid-mounted P pick up doesn't have quite the range of the American Standard model, the bridge mounted J pickup is capable of as much of a woody tone as the American Standard Jazz bass; maybe better. The J style neck is easier for new players and those of us without huge hands, but it's mounted on the P style body. For my money that is a perfect combination. You will pay two or three times as much for a bass of similar quality from Epiphone or Warwick, and Ibanez has never been able to match the Precision pickup's growl with any model. No matter how good you get, you may never need another bass. And no, I don't work for Fender!
