The Renard Model 222 bassoon is Renard's least expensive instrument. it is a superb choice for new bassoonists and school music programs. Introduced in 1971, the durable wooden body and reasonable price have made the Renard Model 222 bassoon a popular choice for new bassoonists and school music programs looking to add a wood body instrument to their bassoon section for decades. The long bore design’s warm tone and excellent intonation is ideally suited for such purposes.
The Renard 222 is constructed of sugar maple with a long bore, selected for maximum durability and naturally aged in Fox/Renard's own facilities. The 222 features durable synthetic linings in the wing joint and small bore of the boot joint, a German bell (white ring), and body lock. It is finished in acrylic enamel.
Mechanically, it has nickel silver keys with silver plating, and a Full German system, plateau key on wing joint third finger hole, rollers on F, Ab, Eb, and Db. This particular model additionally features a high D. Metal tubes extend into the bore in the finger holes of the wing joint to prevent water from entering the tone holes and the spring posts are locked with screws. The tuning basis is A:440, and each instrument is Individually hand tuned for maximum resonance and projection. Two bocals include--numbers 2 and 3, C Bore. Comes with a fine plush-lined case, neck strap, crutch, 2 drop swabs, seat strap.
Additionally, within one year, the instrument may be returned to the factory for fine tuning, acoustical adjustment, and mechanical servicing, with costs limited to freight and parts.
