Gibson Nighthawk Studio Electric Guitar

Some guitars take a while to find their place in the world. Though not actually a new design, there has been a big resurgence of interest in Gibson’s innovative Nighthawk, known for its versatile tone, comfort and great feel. The scale length of 25-1/2 inches makes this a little snappier than most Gibson guitars. Seriously scorching output is delivered through dual BurstBucker pickups. The BurstBucker 2 in the bridge position is a humbucking pickup wound in the range of Gibson's '57 Classic for replica sound. It has unpolished magnets and non-potted coils, just like the original. The BurstBucker 2 is slightly hotter than the BurstBucker 1 in the neck position. Working separately or in tandem you get the full range of classic Gibson tones at your fingertips. The feel and tone of the Nighthawk is enhanced by the baked maple fingerboard, which adds the snappy response of ebony, but retains a warm, traditional medium-brown look like pau ferro. A great addition to a collection or a primary axe when versatility is important.

Baked Maple:
Aging maple through a “baking” process called torrefaction. The wood is kept at 200-300º F for a period of time until the wood knows it’s no longer a tree; Moisture is restored under pressure. This makes the wood very hard, sonically “live” and extremely stable. The snappy sound of ebony, with the look of medium-brown pau ferro. Many boutique manufacturers are now using this because it improves the wood with no chemical treatment, it’s environmentally friendly and is great for making better sounding and playing guitars!
