Good reed

By Sammy from McClean, VA on 9/25/2011 11:29:14 PM

I have been playing bassoon for almost a year now, and this is the best reed I've come across. Great for beginning and intermediate players. Good solid tone. Especially recommend the medium hard- great for high notes. The mediums are better for the low-mid range but are good too on high.

Great when they're great

By T.R. Nunes from Lisle, IL on 6/14/2011 3:29:16 PM

I've tried a number of manufactured (versus hand-crafted) bassoon reeds, and the Jones reeds are the best I've found. When you find a good one, they play great and hold up [relatively]well, too. Unfortunately, only one out of three (at best) are good, so be prepared to relegate the less stellar examples to 'practice reed' status.
