Pristine silver and innovative construction creates an unmatched experience.
Pearl Flutes 9701 Maesta Pristine Series Professional Flute
The Maesta series is the crown jewel of the Pearl Flutes line and has been for many years. It is made of .970 pristine silver which projects better than flutes made of sterling silver. Like most innovations by Pearl Flutes, such as a one-piece core-bar and pinless construction, they are used to create an unmatched playing experience. The 9701 Maesta series also features traditional hand crafted construction and soldered tone holes. These flutes are truly magnificent instruments from a maker combining tradition and innovation.
The Unique Pearl Sound
Artists continually remark about the sound's beauty and subtlety, which is further enhanced through Pearl's equal dedication to rock solid intonation. In addition, the technological advancements on each flute allow flawless shifts from the most projecting of concert sounds to delicate and subtle nuances.
Pearl introduced pinless construction — the first significant refinement of the Boehm flute mechanism in more than 100 years — and soon thereafter, the one-piece core-bar. Traditional flute construction, using pinning needles, weakens the key shafts by requiring that holes be drilled in them to connect the parts of the key mechanism that work together. In addition, these protruding needles can snag clothing and give easy entry to perspiration and body acids that cause corrosion and binding keys. Pearl's unique pinless construction eliminates these problems with additional bridge mechanisms that add strength to the entire mechanism and with socket-head screws that are inserted from the underside of the key work, preventing the entry of perspiration into the mechanism.
Most flutists have experienced having the rod that secures the high C# key back out, causing excessive play of the Bb key. Additionally, the flute mechanism will tend to wear excessively at the king post next to the F# key. The Pearl one-piece core-bar eliminates the possibility of both problems by designing one rod that extends from the high C# through the king post, forming a stainless steel bearing for the shaft of the keys for the right hand. The result is a more reliable mechanism that feels better and is easier to keep in adjustment and service.
Soldered Tone Holes
Soldered Tone Holes are individually sculpted to the body and are known for their great nuance of articulation.
For flutist preferring a little more resistance the Vivace headjoint is the answer. The sound is crisp and clear with quick articulation.
A collaborative effort between Pearl Flutes and Benoit Formanger resulted in the Forte headjoint. A masterpiece that is in tune, has great dynamics, and has an extremely powerful sound. Its design is intended for orchestras and large concert halls with a tone described as dark and centered. The headjoint is also as aesthetically pleasing as a piece of fine jewelry.
The Caloré headjoint is a cut above the rest and an extremely flexible and responsive headjoint. The craftsmen that worked to create this headjoint were able to integrate a powerful tone, effortless articulation, and an astonishing dynamic range.
