Retaining the brighter sound and agile response of the original Series III, the Firebird Edition includes several unique features making it a true collector’s saxophone. The first is a special Firebird design hand engraved into the bell. Also setting this saxophone apart is the use of a honey gold lacquer and black pearl key buttons instead of traditional mother of pearl. The limited edition Series III Firebird comes in a rectangular case with leather-like cover and plush velvet lined interior. The “Tribute to Bird” series was created to commemorate 50 years since Charlie “The Bird” Parker’s passing. During the time period from 2005-2010 five limited edition saxophones will be produced in a variety of configurations with special engraving. The Firebird is the fourth edition in the series. Prior editions included hummingbird, kookaburra, and flamingo designs.
