Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster Electric Guitar

The Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster Electric Guitar has a proud heritage and a sweet price. The contoured solid alder body is the same world-renowned style that fueled the fires of Hendrix, Clapton, SRV, and thousands more. Pure vintage tone comes pounding out of 3 biting single-coil pickups, taking on flavor from a classic rocking tremolo and 5-way switching. Genuine die-cast tuners provide unprecedented tuning stability in this price range. The headstock is the classic '70s "big" style. The maple neck plays fast and feels great. When you trade up, your Affinity Series Strat will be worth far more than any no-name copy.

Fond Memories

By Eli from Ellicott City, Maryland on 2/15/2011 10:44:14 PM

This was the first guitar i ever owned or played. I was given this guitar and a nice VOX starter amp and thus began what has become a very rewarding part of my life. For a beginner guitar you certaintly cannot go wrong with this. I still own this guitar (after 8 years) and it is still in good shape, plays, and sounds the same as when i got it, despite many drops, bumps, and other assorted mishaps. The only issuse i ever had with this guitar is with the whammy bar. I would suggest to anyone purchasing this guitar that they lock the whammy bar down so it cannot be used because this tends to throw the guitar out of tune. Other then that i have no complaints about this guitar for the money. It is a great value for a beginner guitar, which also makes a good back-up for gigs when one moves on to a different guitar. In fact, with a few mods (such as pick-up replacments), this could even be a decent gigging guitar. The body is a decent wood (alder), the action is great, and the neck has an excellent feel. I would say without a doubt that this is the best beginner to intermediate guitar one can buy in terms of price and features. Hence the four stars. With the better than average for cost materials the guitar is made of, it also makes a great starting modding project for aspiring guitar builders/modifiers. I still mine out to play on occasion and people are always suprised when they notice it is a squier.

Great for the price.

By Jesse S from Vernon, Ct on 2/17/2011 10:09:49 PM

This guitar is definitely worth the price for any player, beginner or even an experienced player looking for another guitar at a good price. The neck on the guitar alone is worth 80 bucks. The body is lighter than a standard strat and i find that good since i play shows that last up to 2 hours. If you swap out the pickups you'll have a fantastic guitar.
