Takamine G Series G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar

The G406S New Yorker Acoustic Guitar offers the smallest body profile Takamine makes. The New Yorker has a traditional old-time guitar shape that produces an immediate, clear, full-bodied tone evoking old 78-rpm records of the '40s.

The Takamine New Yorker guitar's strumming voice is sharp and airy. When played finger-style it sings with sweetness and character that make you want to dig a little deeper into the roots of American music.

The Takamine G406S combines the craftsmanship and materials that have made traditionally styled guitars so desirable: a solid spruce top and a gorgeous 3-piece rosewood and quilted maple back, mahogany neck, and rosewood fretboard. New Yorker guitar appointments include wood body binding and heelcap, an abalone rosette, and gold tuning keys.

Great student guitar!

By Patricia Genetos from Timonium, MD on 2/17/2011 1:28:29 PM

As a guitar teacher, I'm always on the lookout for quality, smaller size guitars and this model is on the top of my list for steel strings! I own several Takamines and they are all easy to play, accurately fretted, and stay in tune. To get rosewood, quilted maple, and inlays, along with great sound, at this price is fantastic!

Beautiful guitar: looks and sound

By Denny from Mesa, AZ on 2/17/2011 10:07:37 PM

I recently received this guitar as a gift and I am thrilled! This guitar is not only beautiful to look at, it has a sweet sound. When using a pick the guitar has a large sound for a small body guitar. When fingerpicking it has a pleasing, sweet sound. When I compare the sound to my dreadnought style guitar it does not have as full of a sound, but my dreadnought has never felt this comfortable to play. I am especially pleased with the way the guitar feels. I am a woman and the size fits me comfortably. Although I received this guitar as a gift, I would have definitely bought this guitar for myself.

I wanted to learn to play the guitar and this was a great choice. The size is perfect for me (I'm a smaller woman) and the sound is great!!! It's beautiful as well as enjoyable to play. I get compliments on it all the time.
