The trombone is a very popular brass instrument and has a wider and much lower range than that of the horn or trumpet, and a characteristic slide mechanism that allows you to play both distinct pitches and glissandi (sliding tones) with ease.

The trombone is used in concert, marching and jazz bands, as well as orchestras and brass ensembles. Among the many renowned artists of the past few decades are Raul de Souza, jazz legends George Roberts, Stan Kenton, Carl Fontana, J.J. Johnson, Jack Teagarden, and Steve Turre, plus classical performer Douglas Yeo.
