Yamaha TP-4229 Standard Series 29" Pedal Timpani with Cover

The Yamaha TP-4229 Standard Timpani 29” has a bowl constructed of FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) to ensure pristine projection of pure, resonant tone, allowing the player to cover a wide variety of repertoire. It is fitted with a Weather King Hazy head with an aluminum insert ring that offers increased dynamic range and sustain. Recessed rod ears in the rim keep the tension rod heads well out of the way of sweeping motions during play and cradle the timpani key for solid adjustments. Heavy-duty 4” locking casters provide easier mobility. Reinforced third wheel attachment gives secure hold during transport.

The Yamaha TP-4229 timpani is equipped with a unique pedal balance spring mechanism (a coil spring counteracting the tension of the head) which allows you to freely change the pitch (note) of the instrument at an instant. Yamaha’s original PAC (Pedal Adjustment Clutch) mechanism enables you to adjust the pedal’s rotational torque (the force required to move the pedal) by altering the amount of friction within the pedal balance spring mechanism.

A cable-linked tuning gauge tuning comes standard. Letter and accidental indicators provide more visual tuning accuracy. Enclosed housing on the tuning gauge increases durability and maintains smooth movement of the pointer. Teflon tape on bearing edge provides whisper quiet tuning. The black rim and tuning gauge reduce glare from lights and the sun while complementing black hardware.

Similarity of features between the 4200 and 6200 (professional) series allow the beginning or intermediate player to adjust with ease to more advanced timpani series as they progress.
