I've been forcing keyboard players to drag their own boards to my project studio for about 9 years now, since the last one quit, waiting for just the right keyboard deal to come along, and this was it ! Just won't beat this deal any time in the next decade, and since you were smart enough to check this board out,I'll go ahead and save ya some leg-work. The "headphone/output" jack puts out a standard "line-level" signal, that you can play through just about anything with a plug on it.. ok. Probably won't play through your vacuum cleaner, but to play your new board through a PA system, or a pair of guitar or keyboard amps, in stereo, google Hosa YPP117. You'll know what to do from there. If you're more of a stay-at-home player, google Hosa TRS203. This adaptor has RCA connections and will get your music out of the back of your board, and let you hear yourself through your home stereo system, which just might be a LOT better than the on-board system. Just plug into any un-used or "AUX" inputs on your amp or receiver. (analog RCA connections are the red and white ones )Cable not long enough? There are plenty of extension cables out there that you can use with this kind of adaptor. Try Radio Shack, or do a search on Amazon. [See? I DON't work for Hosa. :)] Start with the board's volume turned all the way down, bring your stereo's volume up to a reasonable level, (about 1 o'clock) and then bring up the volume on the board, to taste. voila! Instant goose-bumps !! [You're not a real musician until the neighbors call the cops ! :O :)] No kiddin'. The YPG-235 is the perfect keyboard for beginners and cheapskates like me. This beautiful keyboard was given to me as a Christmas gift. Piano was always an instrument I had wanted to learn but never had the opportunity. So this year my husband and I made resolutions to lean an instrument. I am a beginner if you can even give me that much credit but I couldn't have asked for a better starter keyboard. It has weighted keys so I can learn dynamics properly. It comes with an optional fut pedal for other learning purposes. And to me when in use feels like a general stand up piano. It comes with many features that as a student I have yet to venture in, but find them a great perk indeed. The price for this keyboard I feel is very fair compared to many others I have seen with as many keys but not as many extras with it. My opinion, straight and to the point. Well worth it. A wonderful gift, I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn the piano.

Great instrument for the price

This keyboard has some excellent features, especially if you like to improvise. There are good voice choices, and lots of special effects. A neat feature is when you choose from the music database, you then hit the note for the key signature you want to play in. The song then plays in that key. For a minor key, hit the first two notes in the scale. The pitch bend is fun, and the keys are touch-volume controlled. A nice instrument for a good price.

YPG 235 and YPT 320

I bought both of these instruments and love them. the YPG 235 is my lower keyboard that I use for piano and general organ music. The YPT 320 acts as my synthesizer as I have a guitar foot pedal attached and is my upper keyboard. Both are formidable in concert and really impress the concert attendees. I have been using the 320 for about a year and just added the 235 for our last concert...both are very durable and have terrific sound with numerous options. I rate both products 5 stars and plan on purchasing additional keyboards...look out Keith Emerson!

Good Bang for the Buck

I bought this a year ago. I have had 2 other similar yamahas before. The first was a 61 key psr-293 but after about a year the left speaker developed an annoying buzz even though 75% of the playing was through head phones. It became so annoying I upgraded to a 76key dxg203 I believe it was, after about a year some of the keys began to fail be becoming louder than others and slightly out of tune. Again the annoyance made me upgrade one more time to this ypg 235. Its been about a year with no problems. Hopefully Yamaha got this one right. I was a bit disapointed of the other 2 not holding up but was satisfied with the sound. I expected more from Yamaha in quality but I guess quality is a myth with japanese products just as Toyota quality is myth. Back to the ypg 235. The sounds are good but I found the bass voices were better in the DGX 203 yet the rotory organ voice is slamming for playing jazz. Dollar for dollar you can't go wrong as long as it holds up.
