Yamaha YTR-8310Z Bobby Shew Custom Series Bb Trumpet
The Yamaha YTR-8310Z Bobby Shew Custom is a result of Yamaha' s partnership with the great trumpeter Bobby Shew. Bobby is a versatile player, equally at home in a lead role in a big band or in a largely soloing context in a quintet setting. Shew had a vision of creating one single efficient instrument that could screech a lead line, or blow sweet, mellow ballades. He finally found that instrument in the Z.
When Yamaha decided to try to improve the Z, trumpet designer Shunichi Niwata and R&D specialist Bob Malone worked together with Bobby, making sure it had what Bobby needed in order to handle all of these various applications.
The result was the Z as it is today. Key of Bb. Lightweight; .445" bore; one-piece, 5", yellow brass bell; one piece, drawn, gold brass mouthpipe; Monel pistons; hand-lapped pistons and slides; laser-fused pluzuma welded bell; unbraced inner outer tuning slide; large bell flare; large bore tuning slide; and special bead and bell taper.
