Mi Vecino

(My Neighbor)

Composed by Michele Fernández

Written for Concert Band, Grade 2.5

Mi Vecino

The seventh composition in the Music & Arts Project Imagine series, Mi Vecino is an upbeat, rhythmic work about friendship and cultural unity written for younger concert bands in an authentic Afro-Cuban son montuno style. No prior knowledge of Latin styles is necessary for an authentic and exciting performance. All percussion parts are very accessible, clearly notated and require no specialized technique to achieve authenticity. Students and audiences alike will find this piece engaging, danceable and memorable.
