Educator of the Year Nominations

Music & Arts would like to recognize a music educator for his or her outstanding achievement in music education. The perfect candidate will have a successful track record in measurable program growth. His/Her pupils or program will have demonstrated superiority in instrumental or vocal performance. This person will have exerted strong leadership and influence in community; and will have lead initiatives which impacted the community. These criteria form the evaluative basis of this award.

Eligibility

  • Current, full-time educators in the U.S.
  • Teaches music in public, private or homeschools. Kindergarten through Collegiate level positions are eligible to participate.
  • 5+ years of music education and or performance experience.
  • Successfully transferred their knowledge and passion to their pupils in hopes of developing their creative skills.
  • Successful candidates will have conducted personal research and are experts in music history, theory, processes and techniques. They have devoted a major part of their careers to the advancement of the music education.

Award Announcements

The 25 semi-finalists for the Music & Arts Music Educator of the Year competition 2017 will be announced on November 1st on the The Vault.

The MUSIC EDUCATOR OF THE YEAR and its two runner-ups will be announced on December 21st, 2017 at the annual Music & Arts Midwest reception. These winners will be selected by a committee of retired music educators and famous music industry affiliates. These members have a reputable legacy in music education.

To nominate an outstanding educator, please enter this person’s information in the form below by September 25, 2017 11:59 PM EST. Once your nomination has been submitted, your nominee will receive an email from Music & Arts with instructions to follow.

Important:

  • Nominators can submit only one (1) candidate nomination each year.
  • Nominators cannot nominate themselves
  • Nominators are not required to provide supplemental information about nominees

If you have been nominated for the Music Educator of the Year title, Music & Arts will send you an email instructing you to submit an application package to meoty@musicarts.com by October 16, 2017 12:00 AM EST.You may also mail the application package to Music & Arts at 5295 Westview Dr Suite 300, Frederick, MD 21703, Attn: Marketing – EOTY 2017. The package must be delivered to Music & Arts by October 16, 2017.

All nominees who want to be considered for the MEOTY title must submit the following:

  • A curriculum vitae listing your career accomplishments, academic degrees and professional certifications, and awards
  • Three to four letters of recommendation from peers, or students (1-2 pages per recommendation)
  • One to two headshot(s) is required, professional quality is preferred
  • (3) Three professional references
  • Media Release form
  • Application form

    • Applicant will collect all files (letters of recommendations, CV or resume, headshots, application form and other) and send as a zip drive file
    • Files save as word documents, pdf or jpeg as accepted

Important note: To be considered for this title, Nominees do not need to be customers of Music & Arts and they do not have to attend the Midwest reception to receive the prize.
