Side one begins with The Teacher Haters - unreleased material by a 60s group that have a very soulful take on the party rock style - really mixing together garagey elements and bluesy inspirations - a bit like some of the cooler Texas combos of the time! "Big Big Polly" has vocals that are more offbeat vocalizations alongside the chorus - with this romping groove that's mighty nice - and the wild singer in the band continues his thing on "Cut Loose", while the rest of the group hold more towards a romping groovy lyric! Side two features two cuts by unknown female soul singers - both pretty great! "We Got A Thing" has this fantastic intro that's maybe worth the price of admission - setting a rising tone for the tune that the vocals really strive to match!
