An Alvarez Yairi Masterworks folk acoustic-electric with premium Honduran mahogany.
The Alvarez FYM66HDE Yairi Masterworks folk acoustic-electric guitar is made from old-growth Honduran mahogany that’s been naturally seasoned for 50 years in Kani, Japan. The Alvarez FYM66HDE boasts a rich and warm sound with strong mids and round, bell-like trebles. This Alvarez acoustic/electric is very light in weight due to the quality of the wood and thin finish. Its projection is open and it boasts a loud volume for an OM body size.

As a Yairi, the Alvarez FYM66HDE boasts incredible intonation and high-end appointments, such as Gotoh 510 tuners and ebony bridge, fingerboard and headstock veneer. It also comes with an L.R. Baggs VTC pickup system for plugged-in excellence.

Yairi Masterworks
The Yairi Masterworks line came about as Alvarez guitar makers were detailing the specs of a guitar for guitarist Jack Pearson. Alvarez thought that the Adirondack spruce paired with Honduran mahogany would make the best combination to meet Pearson’s tonal requests. This series made with Honduran mahogany are some of the best guitars Alvarez-Yairi have made, and offer great value for such highly specified, inspiring handmade instruments.

Throughout his life, Yairi amassed a great amount of tonewood and although most is in or around the factory, some was stored on a piece of land he owned some miles away. The Alvarez team would go and see the wood on every trip to Kani, and eventually it became a ritual after lunch. However, due to the fact that most of the supply had darkened from the elements of the environment, the Alvarez team was never sure what all of it was.

Suspecting that Yairi had a supply of Honduran mahogany on his land, the Alvarez team traveled to Kani again, and this time found a tonewood that was pure gold—Honduran mahogany that had been naturally seasoning for approximately 50 years.

This Alvarez series celebrates this unique wood and Yairi’s lifelong commitment to his art.

Sonically, the Yairi Masterworks line of Alvarez guitars are full and powerful with huge clear bass and mids. They’re almost intuitive in the way they respond, and captivating in the way they draw the player in and take them away.
