Meet our Instructors

Arizona Instructors


Ukiah Odom, Guitar
Ukiah Odom has been a guitar teacher in Arizona for over 25 years. Originally playing folk music in coffee houses in the 60’s, he went on to study at Blue Bear School of Music in San Francisco. Since moving to the Valley from Hawaii he performs “in the pit” for musical theater productions, plays with the classical guitar duo, Art of Music, with rock group, the Ukiah Band, and Americana band, The Sand Pigeons.

Kristen Zelenak, Saxophone
Kristen Zelenak is an active soloist, chamber musician, and teacher from New Baltimore, Michigan. She has won multiple awards including the Central Michigan University’s 2011 Concerto Competition. Ms. Zelenak is an enthusiastic advocate for chamber music. She has been a member of the Auteur Saxophone Quartet, Lotus Trio, and Seyon Quartet.

Ted Hale, Trumpet
Ted Hale has taught private lessons on all brass instruments since 1980, and has taught at Music & Arts on Bell Rd. since it opened in 2006: “Music & Arts is my all-time favorite place to teach; they are 100% supportive of all the teachers and have the best customer service I’ve seen in the music store retail business.”

Susan Hawthorne, Piano
Susan is known as an upbeat, encouraging teacher who understands learning styles and can leverage them for the success of my students. Participating in multiple musical genres on multiple instruments has equipped her to be a flexible educator, speaking everyone’s “musical language”.

California Instructors


Brett Bird, Violin
Brett has played violin for thirteen years. In 2009, his instructor Joseph Kaye gave him the opportunity to begin teaching lessons and help alongside him for summer violin programs. Currently, Brett enjoys being a music teacher to students of all ages and skill levels. 

Evangeline Prior, Cello
Evangeline Prior, a musician of multiple disciplines, has been playing and singing since the age of five. Upon her graduation she received recognition for having completed Advanced Level for both piano and voice in the rigorous MTAC Certificate of Merit program. Over the last 10 years, Prior has also been privileged to serve on worship teams for churches across Southern California as well as for national church conferences. After graduation, Prior hopes to continue her education with a Masters degree in Music Education, further her experience in church music, and expand her career as a teacher in public middle school.

Travis Vinatreri, Trumpet
Travis studied at Mount San Antonio College. He has 8 years of performance experience, which includes jazz band and wind ensembles.

Roland Bachoura, Piano
Roland BaChoura is a Master Pianist & Multi-Faceted Musician. He’s been playing and performing for over 20 Years and his experience and knowledge is vast across the music board. His passion for teaching comes from his mother, who taught him at a young age to develop his skills and technique as a young performer and pianist.  He wants to carry on that compassion and understanding when teaching his students.  

Francisco Retana, Saxophone
Francisco has played saxophone for fifteen years. In 2019, he has received his Bachelor's in Music Education from San Diego State University. During his time at SDSU, Francisco studied Classical Saxophone under Dr. Todd Rewoldt, Eastman alum.

Massachusetts Instructors


Diane Lockwood, Saxophone
Diane studies under Russ Arnold, Frank Marinacchio, and Ian Greitzer. Performer with the Blackstone Valley Community Concert Band, Multiple musicals/shows, and church performances.

Peter Rawstron, Piano
Peter has been a music teacher for more than 15 years. He Plays Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Bass, Piano, Banjo, and also Sings. He encourages students to read and write music. For beginners, a good amount of the time is spent learning where on the instrument and musical staff notes are located.

Keith Kramer, Guitar
Keith Allan Kramer, composer, recording engineer and guitarist, currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. He has taught at Central Connecticut State University, Towson University, University of Miami, University of Maryland College Park and Harford Community College. Keith has over 20 years of private guitar teaching experience and has been freelance jazz guitarist and guitar instructor since 1992.

Peter Hughes, Violin
Peter Hughes studied violin at the New England Conservatory, Bowdoin College, and the Longy School of Music. Performing experiences include the Massachusetts Symphony since 2001, chamber music in the MetroWest area, as well as freelancing in orchestras, solo settings, and community theatre since 1990.
