Low-tuned DANO twang with lipstick-pickup bite.

The Danelectro Dan O. Cool Baritone electric guitar extends the refreshed DANO platform into deeper tuning territory with a 29.75" scale length, 24 medium jumbo frets and hotter 1950s-spec Lipstick pickups built for stronger output and expanded low-register response. Designed for players chasing baritone twang, surf lines, spaghetti-western textures, cinematic layering and pedal-heavy alternative tones, the Dan O. Cool Baritone delivers a wider tonal range without crossing fully into 7-string or bass VI territory. Its hardboard top and back with solid spruce body frame preserve the lightweight, lively response associated with Danelectro construction, while the extended scale length keeps lower notes tighter, clearer and more controlled. A bolt-on hard maple neck with a comfortable C profile and rosewood fingerboard maintains a familiar DANO feel despite the instrument’s expanded range.

Extended 29.75" Scale for Low-Tuned Clarity

The Dan O. Cool Baritone’s 29.75" scale length is the defining difference from the standard DANO 6-string platform, giving lower tunings increased tension and a firmer overall response. That additional scale length helps single-note riffs, drones and low-register chord voicings retain clarity and articulation without becoming overly loose or undefined. The 24-fret layout also expands the instrument’s usable range, making the guitar especially effective for cinematic textures, layered studio parts and alternate-register rhythm work.

Hotter Lipstick Pickups With Baritone Definition

The Dan O. Cool Baritone uses upgraded 1950s-spec Lipstick pickups with increased output, including a neck pickup that is 20% hotter and a bridge pickup that is 30% hotter than traditional Danelectro designs. The result preserves the bright, snappy DANO character players expect while adding more authority into fuzz, reverb, delay, tremolo and overdrive. That combination works particularly well for baritone applications, helping lower notes remain focused and articulate while supporting the surf, garage, indie and soundtrack-inspired tones that naturally complement extended-range guitars.

Classic DANO Construction With Expanded Range

A hardboard top and back with a solid spruce body frame give the Dan O. Cool Baritone the lightweight resonance and distinctive feel associated with Danelectro-inspired construction. The bolt-on hard maple neck uses a comfortable C profile, while the rosewood fingerboard, 14" radius and 24 medium jumbo frets provide a familiar playing surface despite the longer scale length. A 1954-style full bell headstock, 1954-style rosewood saddle bridge and 1958-style skate key tuners complete the retro-inspired presentation. For players who prefer a more adjustable modern setup, Danelectro also includes a steel adjustable saddle bridge that can be swapped in place of the preinstalled rosewood bridge. For players seeking low-register texture, pedal-friendly response and unmistakable DANO personality, the Danelectro Dan O. Cool Baritone electric guitar delivers a distinctive take on extended-range electric sound.
