Left-handed banjo character with familiar guitar tuning in an acoustic-electric format.

For guitarists looking to explore banjo-inspired sound without relearning familiar chord shapes and tuning, the Gold Tone BT-1000 6-string left-handed acoustic-electric banjitar provides a natural crossover. Standard EADGBE tuning and a 25.5" scale length maintain a guitar-like foundation, while a 12" 3-ply maple rim, 12" Remo LC Renaissance head and rolled brass flat bar tone ring provide the bright, percussive character associated with a banjo. An SMP+ sliding magnetic pickup supports amplified performance, while a radiused rosewood fingerboard, maple neck, Zero Glide nut and sealed guitar-style tuners contribute to familiar playability. An included gig bag completes a versatile instrument suited to folk, roots, Americana and other banjo-influenced styles.

SMP+ Sliding Magnetic Pickup for Amplified Performance

The onboard SMP+ sliding magnetic pickup makes the BT-1000 ready for amplified rehearsal, performance and recording. Mounted to the coordinator rods, the pickup can be positioned between the neck and bridge to help shape its amplified response. An external jack design requires no soldering or drilling through the banjo rim, simplifying integration into live rigs and recording setups while providing an alternative to relying solely on microphones for amplification.

12" Maple Rim and Renaissance Head Shape the Tone

A 12" 3-ply maple rim and 12" Remo LC Renaissance head form the acoustic foundation of the BT-1000. The rolled brass flat bar tone ring contributes definition and brightness, complementing the crisp attack expected from a banjo-style instrument. A maple bridge with an ebony cap helps transfer string energy into the head and rim assembly, bringing together traditional banjo construction elements in a 6-string format designed around the needs of guitarists.

Guitar-Style Neck Feel With Standard Tuning

Standard EADGBE tuning allows guitarists to apply familiar chord shapes, scale patterns and picking approaches to the BT-1000. Its 25.5" scale length, 1.6875" Zero Glide nut, radiused rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets further reinforce a guitar-like playing foundation within the banjitar format. Sealed guitar-style tuners provide familiar tuning operation, while a two-way adjustable truss rod supports practical neck adjustment and setup.

A Versatile Banjitar Designed for Guitarists

Chrome-plated hardware, dual 12" coordinator rods, a Terminator tailpiece, black ABS binding and a high-gloss natural finish complete the BT-1000's construction. Each Gold Tone instrument is set up in Titusville, FL, USA, and an included gig bag provides protection for transport and storage. Combining standard guitar tuning and familiar playability with banjo-style acoustic construction and onboard amplification, the Gold Tone BT-1000 6-string left-handed acoustic-electric banjitar gives left-handed guitarists a practical way to add banjo character to their playing.
