The transformer provides a balanced, isolated output over XLR, maintaining pristine audio quality even over long cable runs. Careful tuning of the transformer's frequency response and surrounding impedances ensures rich, musical sound. A high-pass filter removes ultralow frequencies that fall below the range of most instruments, preventing distortion or transformer saturation.
Dual-Input Impedances for Versatility
The DN100 V2 direct box offers two input impedances to match any source. A standard 1/4" TS input has an ultrahigh 1 mohm impedance, ideal for passive pickups on guitars, basses and other instruments. The XLR input features a lower 20k ohm impedance for line-level sources like keyboards, drum machines or audio interfaces.
