An amazing plastic trombone for advanced players.
The affordable pBone plastic trombone in energizing colors is as fun as it is functional. A standard .500 bore pitched in Bb creates an authentic rich lower sound like its brass-playing equivalent and makes it great for musicians at any level.

Half the weight of a brass trombone, the pBone is easy to play and to hold resulting in good form and allowing an enjoyable practice or lesson. The ergonomic grip is perfect for hands of any size making it a student’s go-to musical instrument.

Designed by award-winning musicians, the fully sustainable, recyclable and eco-friendly pBone is virtually indestructible. For children from beginners to intermediate, it creates an authentic robust sound approved by music teachers. Made to be carbon neutral and safer than any brass trombone, pBone is the ideal instrument that promotes equitable access to a music education. The pBone has a unique antimicrobial design and works straight out of the box. The pBone includes two acrylic mouthpieces and a fabric carrying case which provides safe storage and is easy to carry to school or music lessons. Happy in the hands of the world's seasoned professionals, pBone is also the perfect starter instrument and perfect when more expensive brass instruments just won’t do.

Great gift idea!

These plastic tbones are very popular - of course, not to be compared with actual brass instruments but fun to have!

Not bad

These trombones, despite what you may think, aren't bad. I'm not going to say their sound can compare with that of an actual trombone (although it is improved with a regular mouthpiece rather than the plastic one included) but for playing pep band or using as a practice horn so students don't have t...

Exactly what my teenage musician wanted! A plastic trombone to go to the beach, in the woods and everywhere in between where the weather isn't great for a brass instrument.

Bought this for a teen to use during marching band practice. Worked really well until one of the pieces got a crack in it. Not sure how to fix it, and tried to reach out to see if I could buy a spare part but haven't heard anything back. Now it just sits in its bag, forlorn, and very expensive for not being able to fix it. At least we can fix the brass one. Feels like I wasted a lot of money for something that can't be maintained.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

TLDR: Flute player picking up a trombone for kicks and giggles. It's great! So, I'm a long time flute player. My friend plays Bass Trombone. I bought this as a cheap way to pick up Trombone and fool around on their instrument. They're getting a Nuvo flute to play around on my instrument. I want to add I have serious metal allergies so my flute isn't cheap. I didn't want to make a hefty investment in a horn to fool around. This has been a great experience! I'm enjoying myself quite a bit. I think it's great.

Impressive instrument, but not like brass

I purchased this instrument to help in teaching students in my band classes. However; after playing on it for a week, I'm really impressed with the consistency of intonation. The sound is not powerful or brilliant like brass. Look, beginning band students don't take care of their instruments like they should. This instrument is one I would recommend to a beginner but would ask them to change their second semester or 2nd year to brass. This would make a great practice trombone at home, or even a pep band instrument, because of the color choices.

Used prone is a great deal

The used pbone I received was a great deal at the price. It was really just like new (including the rough, scratchy slide). ;-) The tone is pleasant but mellow and subdued..I cannot push the volume much, but I didn't expect it to play like my King 2B Legend or Bach 42B. I would skip the included plastic mouthpiece and play it with your favorite small shank. The biggest problem is the slide. The brass stockings must "wear in" the fiberglass outer slide to be smooth. I found that cycling the slide dry repeatedly while squeezing the outer tubes inward and outward helps, but thousands of reps are needed, so be patient. Keep wiping the inner slide with a paper towel and swabbing the outer slide frequently with cheese cloth on a trombone rod to remove the black fiberglass "filings". Repeat the dry lapping until the slide moves freely. This may take a few weeks of intense working the slide. I play it with the slide dry or with a little Yamaha slide lube (gel). When playing, you will still need to wipe the inner slide and swab out the outer slide frequently. Overall, the pbone is lots of fun but with some limitations and break- in needed.
