Flagship 32-bit studio interface with four tone-shaping preamps, onboard compression and expandable I/O.

When the session grows from a solo overdub into drums, multiple musicians and a room full of hardware, the interface should be ready before the cables are plugged in. The Universal Audio Volt 4P Max 12-in/6-out USB audio interface expands the Volt Max concept with four Tone Shaping Preamps, Max dynamics processing on every channel and 32-bit/192kHz conversion. Three harmonic character modes—Warmth, Focus and Shine—provide Tube, Solid State and British Class-A-inspired character, while six Max compression presets bring 1176- and LA-2A-inspired dynamics to vocals, guitars, bass, drums and other sources as they're recorded. Four mic/line inputs, dual front-panel Hi-Z connections, ADAT or S/PDIF expansion and MIDI I/O provide the connectivity for larger productions, while a full-color Smart Display, Auto-Gain and Clip Protection keep setup manageable. Main/Alt speaker switching, dual headphone outputs and built-in talkback round out a desktop interface designed for bands, producers and collaborative studios.

Four Tone Shaping Preamps Bring Character Across the Session

All four microphone preamps provide 60dB of digitally controlled gain with independent 48V phantom power and the same three harmonic character modes, allowing multiple sources to share a cohesive analog-inspired recording approach. Warmth introduces Tube-style color, Focus delivers a Solid State-inspired response, and Shine adds British Class-A-inspired presence. Max processing adds six push-button compressor presets based on classic 1176 and LA-2A processors, providing tracking-ready dynamics without an external rack of hardware. Pairing Tone and Max provides 18 character combinations that can be applied across vocals, instruments and drums for everything from subtle enhancement to more assertive, produced sounds.

Smart Display Auto-Gain and Clip Protection Simplify Multisource Tracking

A full-color Smart Display provides clear visual feedback for inputs, levels, settings and gain reduction, making it easier to keep track of multiple sources during a busy session. Auto-Gain quickly establishes appropriate recording levels, while Clip Protection helps manage unexpected peaks when performers become more dynamic. Two studio-quality headphone outputs share a cue mix for collaborative monitoring, and the built-in talkback microphone provides direct communication between the control position and performers. Main and Alt stereo monitor outputs add speaker switching for checking mixes across two monitoring systems, while UAD Console and LUNA integration supports session recall and low-latency cue mixes.

ADAT MIDI and Expanded I/O Make Room for Bigger Productions

Four mic/line inputs allow up to four sources to be tracked simultaneously through the onboard preamps, while two front-panel Hi-Z connections provide direct access for guitar, bass and other instruments. When more channels are needed, optical ADAT expands the system by up to eight inputs at 44.1/48kHz, with S/MUX supporting four channels at 96kHz or two at 192kHz; the optical connection can alternatively accept two-channel S/PDIF. MIDI In and Out integrate keyboards, drum machines, synths and controllers, and an onboard USB hub can connect peripherals or power compatible external MIDI controllers. This expandable architecture lets Volt 4P Max move from compact desktop recording into larger band and drum-tracking sessions without replacing the core interface.

32-Bit Conversion Supports Critical Recording and Monitoring

Volt 4P Max records at resolutions up to 32-bit/192kHz, providing detailed capture across its microphone, line and instrument paths. The four mic and line inputs offer 119dB A-weighted dynamic range, while the instrument inputs provide 116dB. Balanced monitor and additional line outputs reach 126dB of dynamic range with a maximum output level of +20.2dBu, supporting studio monitoring and external routing. Built-in loopback blends live inputs with computer playback for multi-guest podcasts, livestreams and other content workflows, while USB bus power and class-compliant connectivity support compatible Mac, Windows, iPad and iPhone setups.

UAD Plug-Ins and LUNA Carry the Session Through the Mix

The included UAD Volt Studio Bundle extends the hardware with LUNA Digital Audio Workstation and more than 15 UAD plug-ins and instruments, including the UA 610 Tube Preamp & EQ Collection, Century Tube Channel Strip, Teletronix LA-2A Tube Compressor, UA 1176 Classic FET Compressor, Pure Plate Reverb, Galaxy Tape Echo and Oxide Tape Recorder. PolyMAX and Anthem synths plus UAD guitar amps provide additional creative tools, while software from Celemony, Plugin Alliance, UJAM, Splice and UVI adds pitch correction, bass processing, virtual drums, virtual bass and instruments, along with three months of FL Studio Producer Edition. From recording a full band to mixing and content production, the Universal Audio Volt 4P Max combines four analog-inspired recording channels, intelligent session tools and expandable connectivity in one integrated desktop system.
