A digital mixer with 96k clarity for live shows.

When a production demands more channels, more hands-on control and faster access to critical mix decisions, the Yamaha DM5 60-channel dual-bay digital mixer console provides the workspace to handle it without stepping into an oversized touring surface. Built on the proven DM7 engine, the DM5 combines 60-input mixing capacity, 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, 26 touch-sensitive motorized faders and audio operation at up to 96kHz. Two 13.3" multi-touch main displays, two 4.3" multi-touch utility displays and touch-sensitive Selected Channel controls create an expansive dual-bay workflow. Thirty-two analog inputs, 16 analog outputs, 64x64 Dante networking and an 18x18 USB-to-host interface provide extensive local and networked connectivity. Designed for live sound, corporate AV, broadcast and theater, the DM5 brings DM7-derived processing and expandability into a durable 47.5 lb. console built for demanding professional productions.

DM7 Architecture Powers a 60-Channel Mixing Environment

The DM5 shares its core engine, firmware and editor environment with the DM7 Series, enabling show-file transfers between the two platforms and providing a consistent workflow across Yamaha DM systems. Its 60-input mixing architecture includes 24 mix buses, 12 matrices, two stereo buses and a cue bus for managing complex productions from one surface. Signal delay remains below 1.5ms from input to OMNI OUT at 96kHz, while 16 onboard FX Rack slots provide extensive processing directly within the console.

Optional Expansion Adds Premium RIVAGE Processing

The DM5 incorporates effects and signal-processing capabilities derived from Yamaha’s DM7 and flagship RIVAGE PM Series consoles. A dedicated PY expansion slot supports optional cards that extend the console’s processing or system functionality. Adding the optional PY-DSP card provides access to Premium Rack processing inherited from the DM7 and RIVAGE PM Series. This scalable architecture allows engineers to configure the console for current production requirements while retaining room to expand its processing capabilities as those requirements change.

Dual-Bay Control Keeps Large Mixes Within Reach

Two 13.3" multi-touch displays create a spacious visual workspace for navigating channels, routing and processing, while two dedicated 4.3" multi-touch displays keep additional functions readily accessible. Adjustable main-display positioning provides four viewing angles to reduce glare and improve visibility in outdoor or unconventional mixing positions. Twenty-six 100 mm touch-sensitive motorized faders arranged in a 12+1+12+1 configuration provide precise physical control with 1,024-step resolution, while touch-sensitive Selected Channel controls place essential parameters under the engineer’s hands.

Networked I/O and Software Support Expand the System

Built-in 64x64 Dante networking allows the DM5 to integrate with Yamaha RPio and Rio stage boxes, RUio utility I/O units and other Dante-enabled equipment. An 18x18 USB-to-host interface supports computer-based recording and playback, while the included Steinberg Nuendo Live and VST Rack Elements software extends recording and plug-in workflows around the console. Optional DEK-BR and DEK-TH software licenses add specialized feature sets for broadcast and theater, allowing the same hardware platform to serve different professional production environments.

Professional Mixing Power Built for Demanding Productions

The DM5 houses its dual-bay control surface in a durable chassis measuring 32.5" wide by 9.3" high by 17.3" deep, including its rubber feet. At 47.5 lb., it remains manageable for touring, temporary productions and other applications requiring a transportable high-channel-count console. Thirty-two local analog inputs accommodate substantial source counts before networked I/O is added, while the included dust cover, power cord and cable hook support setup and storage. With DM7 show-file compatibility, expandable processing, Dante networking and extensive hands-on control, the Yamaha DM5 provides a scalable mixing environment for complex professional productions.
