This is a terrific instrument. There's no wonder it's an industry standard for sop sax. The fit and finish is second to none. Intonation is so good it's supernatural. Tone, voice and projection are flexible and the horn is adaptable to a range of musical settings with the correct mouthpiece and reed selection. It's also of note how mouthpiece friendly this horn is. I've tried a variety of "classical" and "jazz" mp's on this horn and all sounded/played great - just with different colors. This horn is also physically lighter than most sops. There is something wrong with the person who finds any fault with this instrument.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

The 82Z is just a great soprano sax. I have played the 62 for many many years and I just wanted to add the 82Z and I'm glad I did

82Z Soprano

Was looking for similar soprano to model 62 had before years ago using a Lakey mouthpiece. I tried a Conn La voix for several weeks - an intermediate horn at a discount price- but felt the high end was tinny and some intonation issues, and the horn felt heavy, so felt already perhaps growing out of it returned it and spent way more money for this pro horn which seem lighter The 82z does not dissapoint in the high end notes are crisp and intonation is more accurate. The pads seemed closer on the action as would expect on a pro horn. One still has to master their embochure control for dialing in perfect intonation. more demanding on a soprano. Been having some difficulty with lower notes on this new 82z, with reed distortion breaking up the sound, but it could be combination of the stock 4c mouthpiece that comes with the sax, and the particular reeds I am using, as well as my embouchure which I am practicing to improve as was some years since I played last. On the look for a pro level mouthpiece maybe a better match for this pro horn, etc.. maybe like the Lakey had before with the old 62.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend
