A modern OM acoustic with sustainable tonewoods and skeletonized Golden Era bracing.

The Martin OM-35 Inception acoustic guitar explores what happens when sustainable tonewoods and purpose-built engineering are developed together rather than adapted from traditional acoustic formulas. This modern OM pairs an FSC-certified European spruce top with flamed American white oak sides and a 3-piece back built from flamed American white oak wings and a black walnut delta wedge. Skeletonized Golden Era scalloped X-bracing is engineered specifically for these tonewoods, reducing mass to enhance sustain, dynamic response and the natural character of the walnut and oak. With a black walnut neck, FSC-certified ebony fingerboard and bridge, Dark Toasted Burst gloss top and molded hardshell case, the OM-35 Inception offers a thoughtful new voice within Martin’s acoustic tradition.

Purpose-Built Tonewoods With a Modern Martin Voice

The OM-35 Inception uses black walnut, flamed American white oak and European spruce as the foundation of its sound rather than treating them as substitutes for more familiar tonewoods. The walnut contributes warmth, clarity and midrange presence, while the flamed American white oak adds structural character and visual distinction. An FSC-certified European spruce top provides the responsiveness and articulation needed to bring those materials forward. Together, these woods create a balanced OM voice with clarity, warmth and a strong, musical midrange.

Skeletonized Bracing for Sustain and Dynamic Response

Martin’s skeletonized Golden Era scalloped X-bracing is central to the Inception design. Engineered specifically for this tonewood combination, the bracing reduces mass so the top can move more freely while still maintaining the focus and control expected from a premium Martin acoustic. That lighter internal structure supports longer sustain, greater dynamic response and a more open feel under the right hand. For fingerstyle, light flatpicking and expressive accompaniment, the OM-35 Inception responds with nuance and immediacy.

OM Comfort With High-End Playability

The 000-14 fret body size gives the OM-35 Inception the balanced feel, projection and articulation players expect from an orchestra model acoustic. Its shape sits comfortably against the body while offering enough presence for ensemble work, solo playing and recording. A black walnut neck with a GE Modified Low Oval profile and High Performance Taper provides a familiar, refined feel, while the 1.75" nut width gives players room for clean fretting-hand accuracy. A Plek setup further supports consistency across the FSC-certified ebony fingerboard.

Sustainable Design With Distinctive Martin Detail

The OM-35 Inception reinforces its material story through appointments chosen with the same intentional approach. Flamed American white oak binding on the body and fingerboard ties the design together visually, while the Dark Toasted Burst gloss top gives the guitar a distinctive modern look. A Style 28 multi-stripe rosette, black and maple fiber inlays, 28 Style Hex mother-of-pearl and abalone fingerboard inlays, and faux tortoise pickguard add refined Martin detail. RATIO nickel open-gear tuners with skeletonized butterbean knobs complete the build with precise, premium mechanical function.

A Modern OM Built Around Responsible Innovation

The OM-35 Inception is built for players who want Martin craftsmanship, sustainable material choices and a voice that stands apart from familiar spruce-and-rosewood recipes. Its thoughtfully selected tonewoods, skeletonized bracing and comfortable OM proportions create a guitar that feels modern without losing touch with Martin’s acoustic heritage. Complete with a molded hardshell case, the Martin OM-35 Inception acoustic guitar delivers a refined orchestra model experience shaped by responsible materials, intentional engineering and a voice all its own.
