A limited acrylic snare drum celebrating OCDP’s return.

Designed to cut through both the mix and the stage lights, this Limited Acrylic snare drum channels Orange County Drum & Percussion’s custom shop heritage. Released as part of the brand's 35th anniversary relaunch, this 14x5.5" acrylic snare in Nightglow Fade delivers a sharp, controlled voice with strong visual presence under stage lighting. The 6 mm acrylic shell responds with fast attack and focused articulation, maintaining clarity without the harshness sometimes associated with metal shells. Tuning adjustments respond quickly and hold steady, allowing players to dial in their preferred crack or body with minimal effort. With chrome-plated hardware, OCDP offset lugs and Remo UT heads, this snare delivers a modern, performance-ready take on OCDP’s custom shop legacy.

Acrylic Shell Construction Delivers Fast Attack and Clear Articulation

Acrylic shells respond with a quick, punchy attack that naturally sits forward in a mix, whether in rehearsal, studio or live performance settings. The 6 mm acrylic shell translates ghost notes with clarity, allowing subtle dynamics to remain audible as volume increases. Its inherent stiffness supports consistent stick rebound, helping patterns stay tight and controlled even during faster passages or more aggressive playing. Over longer sessions, that consistency allows players to rely on the drum’s response from the first take to the last.

45-Degree Bearing Edges Support Consistent Tuning and Control

A 6 mm acrylic shell paired with 45-degree bearing edges helps define the drum’s articulate voice while maintaining controlled decay. The result is a bright, focused attack that keeps each note distinct, making it easier to maintain separation in dense arrangements. Unlike wood shells that emphasize warmth, this acrylic construction favors immediacy and presence, allowing the drum to cut through amplified instruments while maintaining clarity. The Nightglow Fade finish is applied directly to the shell, preserving resonance while creating a consistent visual surface that reacts under stage lighting.

24-Strand Snare Wires and Side-Mounted Throw-Off for Precise Control

Twenty-four strand snare wires work alongside the type B throw-off to provide responsive, precise articulation. The side-mounted throw-off allows for quick engagement and adjustment during performance, making it easy to shift between tighter response and a slightly looser feel. This configuration supports players who actively shape their sound throughout a set, offering control without interrupting performance flow. Combined with the single-sided lug design, the snare allows for efficient, incremental tuning adjustments.

OCDP Hardware Platform Supports Stability and Consistent Performance

Zinc offset lugs and 2.5 mm steel hoops provide a stable foundation for consistent tuning and durability. The hoop design supports even tension across the head, helping the drum maintain tonal balance over time. Meanwhile, the offset lug configuration increases tuning precision, allowing for more refined adjustments across the head. Built for regular transport and performance, OCDP designed the hardware to maintain alignment and reliability in demanding environments.

The Return of Orange County Drum & Percussion

Born out of Southern California’s underground custom drum scene, Orange County Drum & Percussion became one of the most recognizable boutique drum builders of the 1990s and early 2000s. Known for bold finishes, distinctive hardware and kits built for drummers who wanted to stand out on stage, OCDP earned a loyal following among influential artists across rock and alternative music, including 311, Blink-182, Limp Bizkit, Foo Fighters, NOFX, Slipknot and The Offspring. Now relaunched by Guitar Center to coincide with the brand’s 35th anniversary, OCDP returns with a product lineup inspired by its original custom shop designs while introducing updated builds for today’s drummers. Guided by founder Daniel Jensen and longtime OCDP artist Adrian Young of No Doubt, the new collection carries forward the visual identity and stage-driven attitude that defined the brand, reimagined for a new generation of drummers.
