The accompaniment to Barnes' Tuba Concerto was transcribed for band by R. Mark Rogers, during the Fall of 1996. The premier performance took place on February 1, 1997, with Scott Watson, tuba soloist, accompanied by the United States Army Band, the composer conducting.
