Java Red's Work!!

Let me start by saying that I have never been a fan of the V-reeds. However because wwbw.com was having a 15% off sale I went on a lark and bought a box of Java red 2.5's for my tenor sax. I chose the 2.5's because from what I read the Red's are a bit harder than the Green's. For the Green's a 2.5 i...

Darkest of the Vandorens

Lemme start w/ a reference frame. I'm a jazzer exclusively. My primary MPC is a Florida Link,I also play an MBII and a darker STM. I'm goin for bright w/ some body. I'd place this reed SOLIDLY darkest of the Basic Vandoren, V16 and ZZ. I use the V16 on the MBII and the ZZ on the Florida...You'd thin...

I've struggled to find the right mp for my vintage tenor for a long time. Stumbled upon a ridiculously rare mp (NO info on the net about it) which is very nicely handmade. (Evaluated by my sax tech.) Was using ZZ reeds prior but with this mp switched to the darker Java to finally get the sound I've been looking for a long time.

I use the reeds on my tenor saxophone. I play for churches and special church events.

The prices were great buying in bulk compared to buying it at a local music store. However, I ordered 5 boxes of 2 reeds and I ended up with 4 boxes of 2 and 1 box of 2.5 which my son cannot use. He plans to give that box away to anyone in his music group that uses a 2.5 reed.

JAVA RED

I like these reeds with my setup: reeds are only as good as your setup. So, I play a modern horn with a modern mouthpiece and I love ?? the sound. When I strap a #3 JAVA RED on my mouthpiece with a H ligature the quality of the sound improves through the quality and thickness of these reeds. Such crisp projection and depth of tone. Very Cool!

Few if any reeds play the way we need them to out of the box. These come pretty close generally.

Wwbw offer samples or single purchases to compare & contrast reed products. There are players who don't get the right reeds soon enough. This would make it possible to find the right fit

The Java Red tenor saxophone reeds have worked beautifully for my needs--expressive across a wide volume and intensity range. I'll be buying them exclusively.
