Old 2-screw "Masters" was better
A couple years ago I lost my original Vandoren Masters ligature during a practice session out in the Forest. After searching many sources I was unable to replace it because Vandoren had discontinued this old proven 2-screw adjustment model declaring that the one screw Optimum series was better. So ...

Definitely an Improvement but not for me
So before we start off i would like to let you know my setup. I play on the Vandoren Masters Mouthpiece with this M/O ligature and i use 3 1/2 vandoren blue box reeds and i am using a buffet r13 with silver plated keys. I really thought this was an improvement to the Rovner Versa i was using. It pro...

Not gold-plated…silver. I only play ;Eb clarinet about once in 20 years but this ligature helped with tuning. Good choice.
Love it on a Bb, doesn't fit bass mouthpieces well
Weird that Vandoren's ligature won't fit their own BD5 mouthpiece. I put a mouthpiece cushion on the opposite side to create a slightly larger circumference. Too bad; I love the same design on my CL5 mouthpiece on my Bb clarinet.
Use this series ligature on all my horns.
I use this series on tenor and alto sax and bass clarinet. Since ligatures have little affect on sound ease of use and reliability are the most important criteria for me. These ligatures a perfect for me.
Ligature for Clarinet
When I got this ligature I was not sure that it would perform. However, to my surprise, it worked superbly and couldn't be happier.
Amazing
I ordered this ligature because I needed better response for high notes. It does it very well. My tone sounds very clear, and better than ever. I have full confidence in taking this to state competitions.
Clarinet ligature
I purchased a new mouthpiece and this ligature to replace the one that came with my instrument. The ligature with one tightening screw is easy to attach and has two raised sections to secure the reed. Works great. Only negative is it is a bit flimsy so be careful with it.
So I purchased an Optimum, found it less responsive than my old Masters and also more difficult to get the best tension adjustment on the reed that would hold its position after some playing. I quit using the Optimum and went back to Rovner light and Rovner heavy ligatures. Recently I purchased this Vandoren M/O Series ligature and have had good result. But the old original 2-screw adjustments on the original Masters ligature provided much more precise back to front reed pressure adjustments than the new M/O. Vandoren NEEDS TO BRING BACK ITS PROVEN 2-SCREW MASTERS LIGATURE DESIGN and make it available to its customers ! ! !
Improved tone over leather ligature
I have a LeBlanc Concerto with a Vandoren CL5 mouthpiece, typically with V12 3 or 3 1/2 reeds. I was using a Rovner ligature and tried the M/O series. I like the tone I get with the M/O ligature; the Rovner seemed a bit too dark for me. Response also seems to be a bit better. The only complaint I have is, as others have said, the ligature is a bit flimsy; If you're not careful, you'll probably bend it. Otherwise, no complaints on the tone :)
Great Tone, but Flimsy
I tried this ligature at a music store and it hadn't even been there for 6 months and it wouldn't stay on any mouthpiece because it had gotten bent. Yes, customers abuse the merchandise but upon inspecting the ligature I found that it was only a little less delicate than my previous Bay ligature. I'd advise that if you get this ligature you get a small plastic box (like the Bay ligatures come in) to put it in in your case or even keep it on your mouthpiece with the cap ALWAYS on whenever possible.
It provided way better feedback and it was more free blowing and produced a very nice sound. One downside is that it bends easily. I accidentally shut my case on it and it bent but i put it on the mouthpiece and it bent back to normal. This ligature was pretty nice except it wasn't as free blowing as some other ligatures like the Vandoren Optimum. I do recommend it if you are using a leather ligature but if you have the optimum or another nice metal ligature don't go for it.
