Reverse soundscapes with stereo control and presets

Built for players who want reverse effects to function as a playable ambient instrument, the Walrus Audio Lore MKII Reverse Soundscape Generator pedal combines reverse delay, reverse and forward reverbs, octave processing and pitch delay across five modes with interacting feedback paths. Those paths move from backward swells and octave shimmer to sustained pads and stepped harmonies that can blur the line between delay, sequencer and harmonizer. MKII preserves Lore's five reverse, reverb and pitch-processing modes while adding true stereo input and output, three onboard presets plus 127 MIDI presets, full MIDI control, assignable expression or external tap and expanded Tweak and Dive/Rise functions. For ambient players, soundtrack builders and experimental guitarists, Lore MKII pairs its reverse-focused sound engine with the routing, recall and real-time control needed for repeatable stage and studio work.

Five Modes Explore Reverse Pitch and Reverb

Each Lore mode pairs two processing stages to approach space and pitch from a different angle. Mode I feeds reverse delay into reverse reverb for layered backward movement, while Modes II and III combine reverse delay with octave-up or octave-down reverb for airy shimmer or darker, filtered ambience. Mode IV places reverse reverb ahead of forward reverb, adding octave-up and octave-down feedback paths for sustained pads and drone-like spaces. Mode V replaces the reverb architecture with two pitch delays that move through fourths, fifths and octaves, behaving more like a sequencer at longer delay times and a harmonizer as the repeats tighten.

MKII Adds Deeper Stereo, MIDI and Preset Control

Lore MKII surrounds those five modes with a broader control system designed for both sound design and repeatable performance. The Tweak section accesses stereo Width, Mod Rate, Mod Shape, Shift and Ramp, allowing control over stereo spread, 0.1–5 Hz modulation, sine, square or random LFO shapes and the depth and speed of Dive/Rise transitions. Three presets are stored directly on the pedal, another 127 can be recalled over MIDI, and saved expression assignments travel with each preset. Every knob is addressable through MIDI CC along with mode selection, bypass and tap, while the expression input can instead be assigned to external tap control.

Dive/Rise and Stereo Routing Open New Performance Paths

Holding the tap footswitch activates Dive/Rise, momentarily shifting Lore's clock rate toward the selected Shift target, with Ramp determining whether the transition happens quickly or stretches into a long pitch glide. Dual 1/4" inputs and outputs provide true stereo routing, including mono-in/stereo-out setups for widening a single source, while MIDI clock controls 100–1000 ms delay timing in Modes I, II, III and V and sample-rate stretching in Mode IV. Buffered bypass can preserve reverb and feedback tails in Trails mode or stop them immediately in No Trails mode, and USB-C supports firmware updates. Shape reversed ambience, pitch movement and evolving stereo spaces with the Walrus Audio Lore MKII Reverse Soundscape Generator pedal.
