A startling new reed from Vandoren.
Vandoren's V21 saxophone reeds provide players with a beautifully dark, focused sound with an easy, but full-bodied response in all registers, including altissimo. This makes it the perfect reed for classical saxophonists and band students searching for added depth and warmth in their sound without sacrificing reed response. For musicians searching for something darker than Traditional reeds but with an easier response than V12’s, the V21 could be the reed you’ve been looking for.

I appreciate the ease with which I returned and replaced my 2.5 with 3.0 reeds. I'll use you again in the future. But don't require so much information on the review.

I would not buy the V21 reeds again

I've only tried the tenor V21 in #3 , but so far I'm extremely disappointed. This read was very hard so I would have classified it as a 3.5 or 4.0. It also has a very buzzy quality to it. The buzz sound is extremely annoying and I would never use this. I wish that there were some way to just try one reed and return the rest unopened! I have wasted more money on unplayable reads by Van Doren!

Perfect

I love these reeds, they have a perfect kick to them without being an exclusive jazz reed. I think these are perfect for a marching band setting. (Which is what I use these for.) For other (concert) ensembles I'd still go with traditional all the way though.

The best jazz reed I have ever played.

The tonal quality I get from the V21 reeds is exactly what I have looked for. Whether blowing soft (backing a vocalist) or ripping it with a jazz improvisation, the quality of the sound stays consistent. The 2.5 strength allows me to play with ease in either the lower or the upper registers. Would recommend that every tenor sax player gives the V21 a try.
