Electronic Drums for Sale

Modern electronic drum sets deliver the realistic feel and dynamic response of an acoustic kit, along with the benefits of volume control, compact design and digital versatility. They make it easy to play, record and experiment with sound anywhere, and their adjustable volume makes them ideal for quiet practice at home, which is especially helpful in apartments.

Essential Components of an Electronic Drum Kit

A complete electronic drum kit includes several key components that work together to deliver a realistic and responsive playing experience:

  • Electronic Drum Module: The “brain” of the kit that controls sounds, effects and connectivity. Many modern modules include hundreds of drum and percussion tones, Bluetooth and MIDI support, practice tools like metronomes and backing tracks, and recording features.
  • Drum Pads: These are the “drums” of the kit, positioned as they would be in an acoustic drum kit: snare, floor toms, rack toms. Their sounds are assigned via the module, and they ideally have multiple trigger zones that respond to the drummer’s attack, as on a real drum. The most important decision to make when it comes to pads is mesh vs. rubber. Mesh heads are typically used on midrange and higher-end models. They’re quieter than rubber, with more lifelike response. Rubber pads are durable and effective, and appear on many beginner-friendly kits.
  • Electronic Cymbals: Responsive cymbals with multiple trigger zones that reproduce natural strike and choke techniques. You’ll want your cymbals to have designated zones for at least the bow and the edge — or, ideally, the bell, bow and edge.
  • Hi-Hat Controller Pedal: Allows you to control open, closed and variable hi-hat positions for expressive play.
  • Kick Pad: A pad that triggers drum sounds and simulates the feel and response of an acoustic kick.
  • Rack System: The frame that holds pads, cymbals and the module in place.
  • Amplifier or Headphones: Required to hear your playing.

At Music & Arts, we have electronic drum sets, from starter kits to professional setups, complete with everything you need to start playing right away.

You can also explore electronic rhythms with drum machines, MIDI controllers and other gear. Acoustic triggers allow drummers to add the sound-shaping capabilities of electronic kits to acoustic drums. Trigger pads are also great for combining acoustic sounds and electronic possibilities in a single kit. Percussion stomp boxes are perfect for singer-songwriters and other musicians going for the one-man-band vibe.
